For inclusive European cities<\/strong>, it is essential to create accessible public spaces<\/strong> that take into account the needs of everyone, including people with disabilities and reduced mobility. Despite significant progress in improving physical infrastructure, there are still some gaps to be filled in order to effectively address accessibility challenges.<\/p>\n\n

From a technological point of view, there is still a lot of potential to be explored: indeed, there is a significant gap in the development and widespread adoption of digital tools<\/strong> to improve the lives of people with disabilities and reduced mobility, tools that can offer significant benefits such as customisation, optimised management of operations, real-time accessibility information, as well as innovation in terms of sustainability and design. It is also crucial for Europe to work towards establishing commonly accepted standards for assessing accessibility<\/strong> and developing a unified classification system for real estate units and the urban environment.<\/p>\n\n

From these premises, the AccesS<\/strong> project ‘Enhancing Accessibility and Sustainability in Smart Cities and Smart Buildings: The Universal Accessibility Suite Initiative’, the fourth Horizon that complements our initiatives. The project is part of Cluster 5 ‘Climate, Energy and Mobility<\/strong>‘ of the new Horizon Europe<\/a> programme and the Built4P<\/a>eople<\/a> partnership.<\/p>\n\n

Our main role will be to address the aspects of social inclusion<\/strong> and user-centered design<\/strong>that is, formulating the user-centered design approach, assessing the needs and challenges of people with reduced mobility and vulnerable groups in active mobility solutions, gathering comprehensive data on existing infrastructures, accessibility, and user preferences to inform the development of inclusive solutions We will also work to connect AccesS with other projects and initiatives at the European level.<\/p>\n\n

With this new project, we renew our commitment to a more inclusive and sustainable Europe, with the aim of contributing to the creation of truly accessible spaces for all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
